Yep my two axolotls are called Snot and Slimer! Not my choice, my little boys he's 7 so that probably explains it. I got Slimer on the 14 December and Snot 2 weeks later, in Snot i looked for an axolotl that was a bit smaller than Slimer as i didn't want them to fight, anyway i found Snot and when i got 'her' hom she was about an inch smaller than Slimer who i think is a boy. He now measures 5inches whilst Snot easures 5 and a half, she has overtaken him massively. Now he seems a bit lethargic. She eats so much move than him too. He only really likes earth worms but we currently have 6 inches of snow on the ground. No ammonia or ph problems and both in same tank. Well Thats the start of my story anyway, thanks for reading

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
