PLEASE HELP!

My poor Newt who escaped from his aquarium Sat. has some strange filaments coming out of his butt! They're palish blue... I didn't find any similar photos on CC.

I'll try to get a photo of it... maybe he's just pooping something weird out that he ate : S

Ok, I just read the Breeding section on Paddletails (Pachytriton), and it sounds like maybe he's just "in the groove", if you get my drift!! His tail is whiter than usual, too. I hope that's the case, which might explain his midnight promenade. I've never seen him shed, so that's strange. If anyone knows how often they're supposed to do that, please let me know.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
