So recently 6/8 of my axie babies went really pale and died. Two little ones survived which I'm really happy about, but now I'm super worried they are going to go pale and die too :( can anyone tell me what colour IS healthy or do I have reason to worry?

I believe they're lecustic, but are they too pale? ive done flash on and off to get different lighting views

Oh no!! Its happened again!

One of the two survivors has gone all white and is dying! Its been 5 days since the last ones died and this time ive only used the older lotls tank water and only fed live daphnia!

i dont know what it is..its soo frustrating as i want to stop it happening

Ok I don't know anything about this but.. If it's not the water, could it be the food? Can you source it from somewhere different and see if it changes anything.

I'm just totally guessing here and could be completely wrong. Or maybe it's just genetics :S Sorry to hear about your loss :(

Their little tummies look empty, which is odd for that size. Maybe they're not getting enough to eat or not eating. Try some bloodworms.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
