I have few questions I already have a breeding pair so I know girls and boys live well together, but does anyone know or have any advice on whether I could put two girls together or two males? Also recently got a golden axolotl (pictures will follow) and I can’t tell if it is male or female. Body shape looks male and it has a lil bump but not much. All advise welcome :)

I haven't seen any difference in housing females with females and males with males. It's more of a factor if you want them to breed or not. Separating them for a few months is best right after the female lays so she can gain back some of that nutrition and energy that she lost.
How old and long is your new golden albino? Also does it have dark toes? It may be too young to sex yet.

Thanks you. The store I got it from didn’t seem to know how old it was and its only a few inches long. It does have dark toes and has a small bump but my breeding pair has had babies before and I’ve been able to sex them a lot smaller than this one so I’m just not sure.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
