You can call me, Nancikynz! I am from Houston, Tx and I am very happy to explore this forum. I have fallen in love with Axolotls allthough I am not the proud parent of one currently and have never been, I hope to one day be! These unique little monsters just get me all excited and put me in the best of moods. I wanted to make sure to do LOTS of research for getting my first one and make sure it is a commitment that I want to make. This is what brought me here to you all. I currently have a family that consist of my fiance, a german shepherd dogs, two chi-weenie dogs, and several tanks that have an Oscar, Electric Blue Jack Dempsey, Bichir, Red Ear Slider, 2 plecos, several Cory Cats of all kinds, a German Blue Ram, a couple of Mollies, and a couple of Bettas....not all in one tank but all through out the house... And I am hoping to add to my beautiful family a tank with a couple of gorgeous Axolotls...one day!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
