Hi everyone, I was just wondering if someone could point me to an article that shows the average size of axolotls at each stage of growing? Or possibly just pictures of axies growing up? Thanks in advance!

I think it just depends on how often you feed em mate. Generally I think they should be about 2 inches after 2 months, 4-5 inches after 6 months and adult sized 6 inches by about a year.

I agree that it depends on the food, mine have huge appetites and one (Goliath) is about 22cm at 6 months, so that must be around 9 inches. The rest are around 20cm. Perhaps genes have an impact too. Their dad is very long.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
