Got some eggs from Lydia (firedreams) while I got a juvie Leucistic from her almost 2 weeks ago. The Axies hatched a couple days ago, so now I have 25 hatchlings

This is cool I just ordered 30 eggs and I'm hoping they all hatch :)

One week down and still have 25 living and thriving :D Getting bigger and bigger (about 3/4" long) and starting to get arm nubbins.

Lucky you :( I don't know what I keep doing but I lose mine during water changes! I check everything before I dump the water. . I feel so careless though I do my best.
I'm down to 31 as of today. It makes me sad. So I lost 3 through water changes. or Im guessing this is what happens, I mean how can one eat another?
Yours are only 1 week? Mine are the same batch of eggs and are 15days?
How long did yours take to hatch?

I picked them up on Feb. 24th and they hatched about 2 weeks later, so I guess it's been a few days more then a week. :p

Did you ask her what the parents are? I don't know what I have right now.

Female was melanoid and she thinks the dad was wild type. She is seeing a lot of wild and melanoid.

what about the ones with clear eyes? what would those turn out to be?

To me that looks like a true albino. From the picture it doesnt look like it has any yellow does it? I didnt get any from my eggs like that

These albinos here im pretty sure are melanoid albino unless you can see a shiny ring in their eyes.

Actually, it does look like it has a very subtle yellow when I look at it. I'll try and take some better pics with my camera, the above pic is from my phone.

Mine come from my phone as well :) stupid phones.

Melanoid albinos have a yellow tinge like a golden it just lacks the gold ring in their eyes.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
