Just need some opinions. Sorry i know theres a lot!

So i added my axies in my tank three days ago. Been doing 20%water changes since then. I tested the water tonight and ammonia was .25 nitrite 1ppm and nitrate was 40ppm

My tank obviously isnt cycled yet! Haha i wasnt sure if it was or not because i had guppies in there previously and my ammonia was starting to go down nitrite was 0 and nitrate 5 before i added my axies and got rid of the guppies(in another tank)

Should i just start doing bigger water changes? Are these numbers to insane to keep my axies in? They dont seem stressed.
Am i even close to having a cycled tank? Im having such a hard time! This is the hardest thing ever haha.

those parameters are fine. keep doing what you're doing. keep an eye on the ammonia don't let it get any higher than that.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
