Good morning members, I need some serious help and advice as I am concerned about my Axolotl. He has had this blister like nose for the past 4 - 5 days, I think it may also be just a bash mark where he has tried to rummage underneath a rock and has ended up with these abraisons.

They don't seem to be lumpy like blisters, nor is his tail bent or showing any signs of stress at all. Please may you check out my pictures of his problem on my account.
Thanks, James

Mine has had something similar in the past, it usually clears up on its own. Just keep your water nice and clear and monitor for signs of fungus.

Thank you CJ, it is slowly clearing up now like you suggested :)

I think he just bashed his nose, but he is himself still so I'm not too concerned.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
