Hey there!

I'm new to the site, but a long time axolotl owner and enthusiast. My dad has had a collection of axolotls since before I was born and now that I'm in college I have one human and two axolotls as roommates. :p I've referred to this site a few times when I had some questions about setting up my tank in the dorm and temperature management in this crazy super warm-super cold Colorado weather (originally from Hawaii), and loved the community. So hello! I'm glad to be a part of this awesome niche.

Hi there, welcome to the forum.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you need to, we are a friendly bunch here.

Yes, you have had some crazy weather over there, we've just got through a rather hot summer and things are cooling down now.

Do you have any pics of your axolotls ? We also love to see everyone's lotls

Welcome. I also am new to this site. Just recently started collecting axolots and already hooked. Enjoy this site as i already am. ALOT !!!

Welcome! These boards are always one of the best ports of call when you have a problem, or even just want to show off your lotls :)

I've been here about two weeks. By the way, Toothless says hi! (Probably. If she could pull herself away from her Bloodworm she would, anyway :p)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
