Ok soooo my gruesome twosome seem to love the dark.

I have a light at one end over the plants. Its not what i would call bright & to be honest most of the light is blocked by the plants but still they shy away from it & only come out at night. Ive started turning the light off more & more but the plants need light.
What do I do?
will a blue light make them happy? as well as being enough light for the plants?.
I know they dont have eyelids but is the light really bothering them that much?

I think they'll get used to the light in a few minutes. Mine freak out when I open the curtains and go like ASHDJAHSDJKABK *panic*, but a few minutes later they're just walking around the tank again, with their little poker faces like nothing happened. I love them :)

Mine dont seem to mind the bright light but I only keep it on during the day though, at night I use a red light and they love it.

Mine doesn't seem bothered by light at all. I use a blue light for him on a night time and he's not bothered by it.

Are your guys that freak out GFP? Because iggy, my gfp HATES blue lights/black lights but is cool with regular lighting

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
