Got my bigger jetflo filter today which is attached to my chiller. The muck in the water was chocking the smaller one so upgraded. Which is giving a better flow thru the chiller. Mindful of the new flow in the tank i removed his airstone. There is a hang on filter on the other end, which i turn up twice day to clear the particals that may be floating round. Other than that its turned right down.

So i had an unexpected night off i am sitting here watching his every move. Making sure the new setup doesnt stress him. He has eaten his haul of worms and is staring at me as i am typing..

Hubby assures me he is acting his normal self. I work nights so i dont normally see him..

All water parameters check out... his gills are great, tail nice ... i am being a over protective mum hey :-\

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
