Hi there

I have tested for GH and KH.
I am very new to this so would appreciate any assistance from those with experience.

My GH reading is 4
My KH reading is 2

PH 7.2; Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 20.

I assume that I may need to raise GH and KH. My little axie looks a bit unhappy (his gills have been a bit forward and there is no water flow concerns) so I thought my levels may be a bit low.

I have some Epson salts handy but don't want to start using them without guidance.

?

So I see that my GH is 71.6 ppm and my KH is 35.8 ppm.
I really don't know what that all means yet.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
