Hello all,
I found axolotls a while back and showed my daughter who is in college, she fell in love with them and had been researching them for a while now. I know have a couple on the way and hope to get them tomorrow, hopefully, :D
So I am sure we will have lots of questions.
Thanks for letting us join,
What plants would be best for us to put in with them?
And she wanted sand but I was worried
Thank you all,
Angela in Ohio

Welcome to the forum! If we can't answer it , no one can :)
I never had axies myself but from what I understand, they will probably dig up any plants you put in there.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
