Hi everyone~ I'm Caryn from Arizona, and found this forum while searching for information on axolotls, which I'm interested in keeping in the future. Right now I'm not sure if I'd be able to provide a cool enough home, since my house can get into the 80s during summer, so I'll be looking into a proper cooling setup before I think of buying any axies. I also keep/have kept a few different fish species (bettas are my favorite, but I currently only have a small school of tetras) as well as a cat and dog.
I'm looking forward to learning lots from the forum, as well as meeting plenty of new people!

Welcome to the forum! If you search for cooling tanks or variations of that, there are many helpful suggestions on the forum for keeping tanks cool. Good Luck!!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
