Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your new axolotl. Are you fully in love yet?
You should find all the answers to your questions here
Regarding liver, they will eat it... but that doesn't necessarily mean its a great idea. The concept of a 'treat' doesn't really exist with an axolotl, they just know 'food'. So you might as well feed them the very best, most well balanced, wriggly meal you can - and thats earthworms. They love them and they are very good for them.
Liver is very high in certain nutrients (vitamin A being one of them I think) that can actually cause toxicity if you feed them too much.
So I would stick to good old wriggly earthworms. My lot started paying me a LOT more attention when I started feeding them worms!
I hope you enjoy the forum, it's very addictive and full of lovely people who know an awful lot about axolotls.
Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
