So anyone that's been on in the last week might know that I got a batch of axies and none of them have gone well. There's only poor little Bruce left at the moment and he's currently in the fridge with 100% water changes daily.
He's got red stuff coming out of his mouth, which I'm assuming is blood. When I got him a few days ago he was on gravel, and not smooth gravel either. It was sharp and jagged. I'm guessing he's swallowed a piece and it's cut him from the inside. He hasn't passed anything yet nor has he eaten (although the cold temp most likely has something to do with that)
He doesn't seem like he's in pain, no curled gills or tail, but I noticed as I changed his water that he seems to be shedding his slime coat. I know he probably needs to go to the vet but the one locally said they'd try but haven't actually treated an axolotl before. And honestly at this point unless they are willing to cut him open and remove the gravel it's unlikely they can do more than euthanize him.
So does anyone have any advice on what to do about the shedding? I'm kind of hoping that I'll go check up on him and he'll have pooped and be fine again but I'm not sure that's likely to happen but I don't want to kill him when he doesn't appear to be suffering. He's thin but not skinny enough to starve to death yet. I estimate a week though.
