Hello,
New to the forum, thought I would say hi. I have had a pair of axolotl in the past and plan to get some more in the next week. I was researching before I got them (info can change so fast-we learn new things all the time) and came across this board. I've been reading like crazy and what a seemingly educated, kind, and helpful group of people! I had to join.

I'm into all animals, I have 4 dogs, a bird, and a brackish aquarium. I am a pet groomer/obedience trainer and used to be a vet tech many years ago. I just adore all critters, prob more than most people, lol.

So anyway, I'll just be clicking through pages...learning. Thanks for this forum, it's fabulous:talker:

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
