Hi everyone. I've had my 2 axolotls since January of this year and I've just decided to join this forum. My Axies' names are Thing 1 and Thing 2 like the characters from Dr. Seuss. They're both leucistic but one glows green when exposed to a black light. They're both about 6 inches long. I love them so much as I've wanted them since I was 4 years old!

I am also new to the forum...and to having an axolotl. I just got mine on Tuesday and it's still very little. It has all four legs, is about 2 inches long and currently resides in a Tupperware container with holes drilled in the lid until it is big enough for the tank. So far, it's pretty fascinating even though it doesn't do much other than eat and move around a bit!

Hi curlyjo. I went on your page. Your axie is so adorable. It's so cool raising them from when they are that little. How were you introduced to the world of axolotls?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
