Good morning everyone
I'm new to all of this, I recently found an abandoned Fire Salamander on a local housing estate- took her in and over night she started giving birth to live babies.
HELP!!! I have no idea really what to do. Iv researched as much on the Internet as I can but was hoping for more advice.
I'm currently feeding the babies on live blood worm and daphnia- they seem to be fine. Although I have no idea how long it will be before they start to need to be able to come out of the water?
The mother on the other hand- I'm struggling with- she will not eat! Iv tried crickets, blood worms and daphnia in her water bowl, worms, slugs etc in her tank and holding to her mouth. She doesn't really move much- is that normal?
Any advice regarding the babies and mother will be greatly appreciated
Mary

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
