Ok, so the reason I am posting this is because across the internet people seem to be having issues feeding red wigglers to not just their Axolotls, but other reptiles and amphibians, and I just found the solution! I too picked up a box of red wigglers and took them home only to find that they Axolotls spit them out, and my Musk Turtle ate one but refused any more. I have to cut them up for my Axolotls because they are still small. While I was doing this I noticed that they give off a horrible smell. Someone said that they gave off a nasty taste/smell when threatened. So they soaked theirs first in water and that then they would eat them. This still didn't help much, but then I started rinsing them AFTER I killed them and chopping them up- BINGO. They eat them so fast now. With my turtle I try to keep them intact and just stab them to death (I feel horrible doing it, but my turtle LOVES them) A word of caution for the worms though, if you have ANY substrate and the worms are still alive, they will dig to the bottom and die there. This is very bad, so I recommend killing them before sticking them in the tank. Anyway, hope this helps someone else feed their pets. I have also heard that red wigglers are the easiest worm to start a worm farm with and are very nutritional, so yay!!
