I have a juvie that I've been raising for a while now, and I'd like to put him/her in with my adults. What size do you think the juvie should be before adding him to the tank?
The tank I'm using is a 40 gallon and has 3 adults. I previously had 4 in there with no problem- all were happy and healthy, and I sold one of them.
The juvie is like 5.5-6" right now, and all of the axies are really calm, but I've never introduced a new axie before. Opinions?

If the juvie is close in size to the others it shouldn't be a problem. If the juvie is smaller, but too big for them to just eat, then do it carefully and keep an eye on them to make sure there's no nipping. Maybe get a divider for a couple of days

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
