I got my first leucistic female axolotl! I think she is so fascinating! However, I got her from someone else who bought her from this site and I have a few questions. My axolotl is supposedly a year old sometime this month and she is 6.5 inches long. She has no markings on her toes for signs of puberty. So when does this happen? Also, I feed her live earthworms, but how often am I supposed to be feeding her? I have heard every day, every other day, or 2 or 3 times a week. Help!!! Please?

That seems a little small for one year old. Do you know how much he use to be fed?

Mine are 5monthes and 8" :s which i think is huge for their age

The girl I got her from fed her only 2-3 times a week! My axie was on the thinner side when I got her. Wow! Yeah you do have big guys. :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
