I have about 60 newts all of them are in the same stage. They just left the water and are now pretty much always on land. They are not at all interested in eating. They haven't eaten in over two weeks. Is this normal? What else can I do?

You'll need lots of tiny live food, such as flightless fruitfly, whiteworms, greenfly and so on. I add a lot to their tank and leave them alone as much as possible. You'll know when they have eaten as they will have little round bellies.

Another option is pinhead crickets. You may need to ask your local pet shops if they can special order them for you. The food really does have to move or they won't eat. Good luck!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
