Hello caudat-o-philes!

The name's Ladd and I'm a first time poster, few times frequented member who was looking to be more participatory within the community. I recently moved from inland Washington the coastal Northern California under thew watchful arms of the redwood trees, fully aware that I was walking into a treasure trove of species new to me. It's been really nice reconnecting with my slimy self and most importantly the Plethodontids!
I've really enjoyed a lot of what I've read and garnered from many of you and just wanted to say thanks and hello!

Cheers,

Ladd Luxor

All my favorite salamanders are native to the west coast. Welcome to the forum!

So far that's been the same for me, but I sure wouldnt' pass up the opportunity to see a hellbender bending water in the wild south either.:D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
