Hey everybody! I'm Dustin, an 18 year old college student in the eastern US, and I'm a proud parent to two male Chinese fire-bellied newts, named Sergei and Moses. Whenever I get a chance to log on from my computer, I'll add pictures of my newts and their tank.

10 gallon tank, full water with protruding ornament (large hut)
For exiting water, smaller ornaments including a bed of plastic clover, two apple snails (I believe they are apples?) 1-2 live plants (when they are available to me) and reptile carpet instead of substrate..

Looking to, in the new future, expand my family with the addition of either a single larger amphibian or a small clan of teeny amphibians.

I've been stalking this forum the whole 8 months I've owned my newts, and I'm glad to be a member now!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
