Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with axie eggs taking a long time to change form?

This is the end of day 4 and they still look the same as the day they were laid (exactly the same as day 1 in this photo log Axolotls - Embryo Photo Log ).

There's no mold or decay. Water temp has been around 17-18 degrees celsius.

Am I just being impatient?

Would really love your input,

Thanks!

My eggs can take 3-4 weeks to hatch but i assume its from temperature.

I would have said your should have started showing some change by now.
Sometimes you have to look really close to see the changes.

You may just have to wait it out i'm afraid

Thanks Mel, they finally started to change yesterday. I thought they were all infertile. Glad I was wrong!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
