Hello all, I am new to posting here. Me and my hubby are lotyl breeders and love the lil guys. Strangly tho our male is quite the oddball, he is polar opposite of things Ive read, he loves swimming around and loves hanging out in the stream from our pump, he actually plays around in it and rests on the rock below it with his tail blowing in it. And when its feeding time he turns into a begging puppy, he shoots up to the top of the water and watches me as i get the food. His personality is very quite comical.
Just wanted to share;)

Welcome to the forum! A lot of axies have endearing little personality traits. I'm glad you find yours amusing. I'm going to move this post to the "introductions" section.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
