Not quite as bad as it sounds, I hope. Long story short I have been working with some local plants indoors and brought in wild centipede eggs. Eggs hatched and I've had centipedes in the house. These are small venomous centipedes (not too bad, like a bee sting.) So I think one fell into S'Miguel's tank and he ate it  . There's a lid on his tank, but I keep the small door open so I can check water temp and I think that's how it got in. I looked over and he was eating something that looked like a worm - but I hadn't fed him yet so I knew it couldn't be. He seems fine...but I'm a little concerned. Is there anything I should watch for?

My guess is that somewhere along the line in a wild axolotls diet they'll stumble upon a centipede and eat it. So I wouldn't worry too much. Keep an eye on him though.

I should imagine that the main worry would be the effect of the toxin on your axies innards. Personally if it were my axie I would be keeping a close eye out for any signs of swelling or discolouration or abdominal discomfort and whip it to the vet if I saw any of these. I am a worry wort though ;)

What type of discoloration? He's a wild type, so it's a little hard to see slight changes - any tips to seeing them?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
