Hello all, yesterday i found a jefferson salamander (i think) on my driveway. He has a very nice habitat and seems to be adjusting fairly well to our family, although when i put worms near him, he doesnt even bother with them. i will be going to the pet stire tomorrow to get crickets, but other than that, does anyone else have any suggestions? btw, he is abot two inches long, and brown with some faint darker brown spots.

salamander and newts take sometime to get use to a new environment. When i first got my tiger salamander from my in laws, they were feeding him crickets. I started him on a diet of night crawlers and he's grown a lot in the past year and a half.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
