Hello all i thought i would thread for the first time properly for being apart of this site since last year...

I've had ups and downs with axolotls i did have one named pancake who was very fit and well till about a few months ago he sadly passed from movies to my old house and it being so darn cold. he got ill and gave up which was sad for me.

BUT now i have finally come back with a 130L tank some nice sand, ornaments, a ready to go tank and 2 new additions!

Leviathan is my first wild axie who is black and green and a very active little nutter who loves to swim around and float every now and again, which i find quite strange but whatever floats your... boat? or axie.. which i am guessing water and bubbles do if your axie is into that sort of thing :p

I've had him/her for about a week and a bit now, very healthy little axie i must admit too, been growing my own worms and just got my sinking axie pellets today :D, now leviathan loves earth worms, but i did give the pellets a go today and seemed to like them very much also which is a great thing!

now only yesterday the 28th or July i bought sideshow stumpy :p, this little guy/gal was one i saw an albino red gilled creature which is only young and i think looks magnificent! I've put him/her in a seperate small tank as she isn't so big at this time,

now your wondering why i called the little one "sideshow stumpy", NOW the poor little thing as i was watching had half a back leg, so i'm thinking her legs was either crushed by something or another axolotl had a go at the poor thing, SO i decided to buy him/her and took the little one home to nurture back up to good health, amazing gills with very noticable veins which looks amazing, stumpy is also very active which is great! also fed the axie a worm the day i got him/her, gave those 2 worms hell and swallowed them whole! in about 2-3 weeks i will move stumpy in with leviathan to be together, also hoping one of them is male and the other female.

i will post some pictures later when possible :D and keep everyone who views this post up to date on this *blog* as i do have some interesting stories for you all in what i see from my tank day to day :p

as for now though i bid you all a great day or night and if you have any questions simply message me as i have done alot of research on these guys and give you links :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
