Hi All,

My name is Laura and I live in Birmingham (near to the airport).

I share my home with my 9 year old Son, 3 German Shepherds, 3 Syrian hamsters, 1 Siamese fighting fish and a milk snake.

I have been a fan of amphibians for some time and have decided to join the forum with a view to learning as much as I can about Axolotls. They absolutely fascinate me and I hope to own at least one, preferably two very soon.

My hobbies are based around my Son and animals. It doesn't leave a lot of time for anything else but we're all very happy as we are.

I'll try to post up some pictures of the gang once I'e sorted out my phone, email and pictures on my computer.

It's good to be here.

Regards,

Laura xx

Hello and welcome!

Sounds like you have quite a menagerie there.

I am sure you will find much information and many fellow lotlaholics here

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
