New to the site, though I've known about it for a few years now. I started with Salamanders few years back when I saw my first local one in the wild, (had been looking since I was a child). Right now I live in Ontario, Canada, and have 5 blue spotted salamanders, 3 green tree frogs and 1 red bellied newt. Just recently found videos online of vivariums, paludariums, ripariums and all the other types of set ups, and have been experimenting on these ideas. Hoping that with the new info I found I can set up some fantastic natural habitats for these amphibians.

Welcome! There are helpful ideas in the caudata culture articles (link in my sig) and all over the site, if you do some searches!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
