Does anyone know what this is? It just came out of Churro (female 10 months). She overdid it on wax worms recently and threw up loads of them and hasn't been that interested in food since. She looks otherwise healthy but has been hiding a bit more than usual.

It looks like undigested worm skin/casts...I'd keep an eye on her just to make sure she's alright, watch for any colour changes, sudden behaviours and gill shrinkage, all the obvious bits. The only thing I've seen that looked like this was when one of my axolotls brought a bit of prawn back up (it was too big). Hope she's better soon!

I think you're right as she's been fine ever since. Think she overdid it with the wax worms :)

I hoped that was all it was...if it's just an upset stomach then hopefully it was just a one-off :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
