My Frankie has grown a ton since I got him and is now about 4.5 inches and eats like a little piggie every day. I was wondering when do you begin to switch from the daily feeding to every other day or every two days? Or is that even necessary? Do some axie owners continue to feed smaller meals daily or does everyone pretty much go to every other day?

I tried to persuade mine into every other day - but they won't have it! They are 8" and they are still on daily meals, albeit one worm each. They get snappy if I miss a day, then someone loses a chunk of tail....

I have began to feed mine every other day and feeding them a bit more, they eat the same amount as before just i feed it to them in bigger meals. So far so good but its more for my convenience sake ive been so exhausted lately for some reason and to skip a couple feedings per week you dont know how nice it is! But i had been feeding mine everyday until i started getting so tired, its more for me, at least for now.
Mine are 8" too. As long as their belly is as wide as their head then you are fine, its when people feed them only a couple times a week and you can tell they are underfed that it is a problem. I feed them when they look like they need food :p

I'm the same as Auntiejude! Mine are 7" and 8" and I still feed mine 2 medium worms a day to stop them snapping at each other (they never have so far, but I want to keep it that way!) :)

Thanks all! I figured it depended on the individual axie and I know Frankie and Beans are neither one big enough to be ready for that yet, but it never hurts to ask.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
