I have red efts at home. I have been researching them in their terrestrial stage to take care of them this far and working on researching what they need as an aquatic newt. I am very new to keeping them though. I just found an eastern newt at a percolator today in its aquatic stage living in Eco earth with no water. He is skinny and lethargic. I bought some frozen bloodworms and have extra tanks at home but not sure if he needs anything else other than plants. What temp should he be at? I'm so worried about him and want to fix him.

Can anyone give me any info on how to bounce back a really skinny newt though? I set up a tank with live plants and a filter. He's very skinny. I put some bloodworms in there. I let the tank run for a while but I put him in after getting him used to the temps because it was better than being in a bag.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
