After a couple day buffer period, Stanley is in his new walstad tank! I'm not sure if he likes it, he's been in his hide an awful lot...

They'll be stressed out and hiding after moving into a new tank with new decorations and such... not to worry, he'll adapt. Soon enough he'll come to the tank wall to greet you when you come home ;)

Haha when I moved him into the smaller tank while I was building the bigger one he didn't hide at all, he was dancing! Now that he's in the bigger one he pokes his head out to greet me but I expected him to love the tank. Ohwelll.

It takes thema while to adjust, he will be fine in a few days. I rearrange my tank every week when I clean, it takes my axies a hour or 2 to realise their stuff is still there just if different places! Until then they all huddle under one plant.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
