Hi guys, My names Maddie, im 17 and live in South Australia, i have 2 axolotls. I've had FatAmy for about 6 months who is a black axolotl and I've had McLovin' for about 3 months who is a golden axolotl.

i love axolotls but would really like to know alto more about them, so.I've joined this page because everyone here seems to know their stuff! :)

2 brilliant axolotl names delightfully combined to make a great username!

Welcome, great to have you here, and yes, this is such a fantastic place to learn more. It only adds fuel to the obsession though, I'm afraid!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
