Aztec is acting weird

So Eclipse and Mayan are fine and normal. Aztec is doing this... (see video).

They just moved to this 40 gallon tank, it's cycled, 69F, pH = 7.0 to 7.4, ammonia = 0

He ate today, even hunted a guppy. I just don't know WHATS wrong or how to fix it for him

It doesn't seem like there's anything really wrong with him, actually. He might have just worked himself up when he was hunting guppies. Mine has little hyper moments after he's scarfed down a worm.

So the barrel rolls and floating are normal, oh dear god. LOL. I have MYSELF worked up over him.

I researched Axolotls for 3 months before I got these guys.... this I wasn't ready for!

It might have been worrying if he continued to float throughout your video, but I noticed towards the end he settled down at the bottom and stared at your camera. Axolotls are surprisingly nimble and even playful when they want to be, no matter how big and old they get.

He's going back and forth from the floor to floating, no more "zoomies" though.

I'm a little relieved to know Aztec is likely fine <3 My silly munchkin.

At first it looked like he was having a fit. But then he appeared to calm down and just be acting like a normal spaztastic lotl. At this stage, I wouldn't worry. But I would keep an eye on him just to ensure it isn't some form of fit.

Are you guys sure you wouldn't be concerned? I thought he looked pretty distressed. My little ones are pretty hyper looking at times, but they don't look quite like that. I hope I'm wrong, but just thought I'd say something. Personally, I'd continue to keep a close eye on him (not that you aren't already!).

I've been checking on him every 15 minutes or so... He's now having issues keeping his butt on the ground :/ Any ideas or thoughts?!?!

I'm seriously debating pulling him out and putting him in a small tank by himself for the night with less water.

Mayan and Eclipse are still perfectly fine. No issues

Like I said, I would have been more worried if he had continued to float or was having trouble staying at the bottom. I agree that it might be something to keep an eye on, but to me it just looks like a hyper axolotl getting his energy out.

If he looks like he's uncomfortable because he can't get his back end down, I'd probably move him. Or if he's darting around and the other two are getting worked up. Otherwise, I'm not sure that moving him would be helpful.

Has he done the thrashing around thing anymore?

Also, would you happen to know your nitrite/nitrate levels?

Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 20ppm

(Sorry I forgot that earlier!)

No more thrashing at all. His front end is able to stay down it's just his back end. I feel like I've had to have done SOMETHING wrong here. I've only had these guys a week or so.

Also the other two aren't upset by him in any way or fashion.

Did you just move them to the new tank? Mine sometimes freak out when I move them. Maybe that's all it was....?

Mortimer used to run around a lot before I knew to age his treated water. Could it have been something like that? I'm stumped.

Hm. Could be a gas buildup. Wouldn't be surprising, honestly. Just keep an eye on him and hopefully he'll pass it soon.

No one else would understand its 1:30 I the morning and I can't sleep because my Axo might have gas... or something else. In all honesty have I done something wrong? I've really TRIED to do everything as I should, but I could have made a mistake somewhere!

So far it sounds like you're doing everything right. The only question I have is, how quick was the transfer to the new tank?

I did it over the course of 30 minutes dripping the new water into container the eat in with their old tank water...

To quick?
