Does anyone else have any evidence of a correlation between Aloe Vera in dechlorinator and and fungus in axie gills?

I switched to a different brand of dechlorinator with aloe in it about 6 weeks ago, only because the LFS didn't have my regular one, and 3 of my axies have developed fungus since.

I have only experienced fungus with over-warm water before, but my tank is now at a steady 18C. My water change routine has not changed other than the dechlorinator - around 25-30% per week.

I will be switching back to my old brand anyway - I'm not convinced the new one is as good as the old as I have twice tested and got a reading for chlorine after a water change.

I suppose if too much was used it might have a negative effect as when i accidently do, all my pipes and filter get brown gunk all over them where the aloe has gone mouldy.
However i have been using api stress coat, which has aloe in it for a year and i have not had a problem, was there a temp spike at some point, maybe your heating got high with the weather a little warmer?

idk *shrug* im just rambling now haha

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
