It's disgusting isn't it? It's not new either, when I was a kid I remember seeing glass fish with bright colours injected into them. Nowadays you can even get albino clawed frogs that are dyed different colours. We don't see them that much in the UK anymore for some reason, maybe the shops were struggling to sell them before they died?

That's so horrible! I mean selective breeding for pretty colors is one thing but tattoos?!!? That's a freaking live fish not a doll! That is a total discussed to me. The fact that people are willing to do that for money or any other reason irritates me. That is just plane cruel! Who sells these?!

Well, i've been both burnt and tattooed and i can confirm that they both hurt so i still think burning or tattooing defenceless creatures for amusement sucks.
I'd also questtion the intellegance of anyone who finds a dying fish with a word written on it so fantastic.

Just my 2 cents worth...

Stupid people! Yah, it looks cool, but it cant be healthy! Seriously, I wouldn't be able to hold my temper if I had a Instagram, these things would drive me crazy and with people being so stubborn it would just kill me. Stupid, just stupid..........

Omg, not Axolotls too.

This is why I stay away from things like instagram... I've seen things like this before where the fish are dyed or tattooed or etc and it's just...

It's done by people/corporations in the mindset that fish (and in this case Axolotls) are objects for our amusement and not living, breathing animals. And that's what drives me nuts.

Just thought I should point out that the cats in vases thing is actually fake. I don't remember the details of the background story 100% but I believe it was a group of college kids that made it up as a morbid joke and word of mouth online turned it into "legit internet facts".

I seriously hope it was just some sick joke that got out of hand.

Just look at the things people do to make a buck. I wouldn't doubt it has been tried. :(

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
