I have Two Axolotls around 3 years old. I was just wondering, when should i feed my Axolotl and how much should i feed it? I feed them meal worms and earthworms (from my farm). With the occasional live feeder fish.

Skip the meal worms and feed them a staple of earthworms.
Shrimp, axie pellets, bloodworms, wax worms, small feeder fish and thawed and rinsed prawn can be treats every couple of weeks or so :D
Their tummy needs to be as wide as their head so if its about right now, then 1 worm every 2 days should suffice. but its trial and error really depending on how active they are/how warm the tank is.

Mine are more or less fully grown, and 1 worm each a day. Some people feed more but less often, thats fine too.

When you feed them is up to you, but axies are generally most active later in the day. I feed mine in the evening - anywhere between 6 and 10pm - they are not that fussy about time as long as they are fed.

My axies go nuts for river shrimp and waxworms, I gave up on mealworms as the exoskeleton is hard to digest and make a mess of poop.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
