I have a question. My axie tank gets an algae problem sometimes, like the brown algae. I have ghost shrimp in two different tanks , but I was wondering if disease can be transfered between shrimp and fish or between shrimp and amphibians. Like I'm not planning on him eating them but if he does.... what's the risk? One aquarium is super healthy and the other one, one fish has acted weird since I first got him so I'm worried about disease.

You don't have much choice! My axies absolutely LOVE river shrimp, they don't last long in my tank (see my avatar).

With river shrimp you need to follow the same rules as for feeder fish - if you've had them isolated/quarantined yourself for a while you'll be fine. I get mine from a LFS that quarantines them before they are put out for sale.

But in answer to your question, yes diseases can be passed on to axies via live shrimp. Use the shrimp from your healthy tank.

I started a shrimp tank to breed them and give my axies a treat every now and then when I get them.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
