Looking to learn a lot about axololts as I just got one as my 10 wedding anniversary gift from my husband. I am currently stationed in Japan hence Sakaru's name which means cherry blossom. Hoping to make him a happy little one that we can keep with our family no matter where we move. That said best airlines to fly are?

Congrats on your 10 years and welcome to the wild world of axolotl keeping! :p

Edit: I forgot to say I have no input or experience with animal shipping overseas. :(

Side note: Isn't "Sakura" Cherry blossom? I'm a bit of an otaku, so I was just wondering if you purposely miss-spelled it? /Spelling nazi mode off.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
