Hello then, might as well make my first post. I joined here for the express purpose of purchasing an Axolotl (after doing a month's worth of hard research, and already having a background in freshwater aquaria) aand I might as well hang around.

I have three (soon to be four) pets - Jalen the Betta, Prowl and Jazz the goldfish, and the as of yet unnamed Axolotl (golden albino).

I'm also a student in the field of Digital Animation, particularly 3D (Maya, Mudbox, Zbrush etc)

'bout it I suppose.

Haha well, I still have yet to name my Golden Axie! But I want to see him/her first (it's easier to come up with names if I can see their little personalities)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
