What is the best way to transport six juvenile axolotls on a short car ride? Should I put them together in a big tub or individually in bags, or what? If I put them together in a small container will they start chewing each other if they are frightened?

I have transported two of my 8-inch axolotls together on and hr and a half car ride in the same container... not too big but just enough room for both. and they have been fine. even when they were much smaller they were fine together

How far are you going? I put mine in pairs in bags for a 2 mile car ride, supported in pastic box. 3 more are going next week for a 40 mile ride, they'll be in individual bags and again supported in a box, but a cardboard one to keep them dark.

Only going a couple of miles. I think they will probably be all right whatever method I use, then!

Psst, you can get fish-bags usually for free (or at a very small price) at pet smart or petco if you need some.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
