Is it too cold to ship juvenile axolotls this time of year? I'm in the central USA and I know I'm cold but what is too cold for shipping young axolotls?

I have about twenty leucistic and leucistic melanoids or "white melanoid" that I'd prefer to sell here or elsewhere online instead of to the local pet shop for various reasons.

Edit: wanted to add that they are all 40 days old. Should I wait till they are older?

40 day old is pretty small and kind of fragile for shipping.
I've suspended my shipping for this week because of cold weather.

I don't ship until they have fully formed back legs and have put on some weight, usually about 3 inches.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
