I have been thinking about getting a siren intermedia nettingi and am curious on a few things for them. I read all of the info on the site already and some things are vague.

1. How big of an aquarium do you need for just one?
2. What do you find to be the best substrate for them since they like to burrow?
3. Since it is found in areas not too far from where I'm located should I look at harvesting plants that grow in their natural habitat? If so how do you go about making sure they are free and clear of bad things?
4. If I decide getting one is a good fit for it and myself is there anyone that breeds them?

Thanks!
Tara

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
