Babies leaving home

I never thought I could get so attached to the babies, but I've just sold 2 of them and I'm in tears! I know they've gone to a good home with an experienced keeper, but I'm still sad to see them go. I now have a tank with one lonely little wildtype in, and he looks sad too :sad:. (Don't worry, the other tank has 4 in, he will get a new tankmate before bedtime)

Am I just being a sentimental old lady? Or do any of you guys get attached to little axies that you've always known you won't keep?

I wish I could keep one of each type that my two parents produced. But I know I can't and sometimes I get sad thinking about it. I guess it's only normal, after how much time is spent tanking care of them.

Six of mine have gone to the LFS today, so I know how you feel! The shop guys know how to look after them and have a good tank to keep them in, but I worry someone will buy them and keep them badly. Still, it's impossible to keep watch on every baby axolotl we raise... at least you can be proud of giving them a good start in life. I got attached to all 25 of mine! Some have gone to our local aquarium so at least I will be able to pop in and see them when I miss them too much.

I'll probably cry when my 3 babies go to new homes.
None of my local pet shops have axies an good conditions (many gravel tanks), so I hope to find new owners over the internet and give them advice on how to keep an axolotl properly (if they don't know so already).

My last one left today... and again I cried!
I am now officially a pathetic middle-aged lady with empty tank syndrome....

Never mind, I have 58 new babies to grow on....

Yes, it's that time again - I just delivered 35 of this year's brood to an aquarium specialist shop. But no tears this time!

There are possibly 3 that I'll be keeping this time though - one is a floater, one is a tiny albino who isn't growing despite having a huge appetite, and the other is a runt who only has one leg but is the most beautiful pale speckled colour.
