My little girl laid her first batch of eggs! I'm excited but she's silly and instead of using the various plants I had scattered everywhere she laid a good many of them on rocks and the filter and places like that. How can I get them off without damaging them?

Use a thumbnail to gently scrape them off. Eggs are very hardy and coated with a layer of snot-like slime (eww), you are unlikely to damage them.

Cool! What about a pipette? I found a pipette that's diameter is bigger than the eggs but smaller than majority of the snot coat. Could I use that to suck them up?

You could use a turket baster, but the sucking action can damage the eggs and burst them. You also have the problem of the eggs being attached with the snot-slime, and they are hard to remove with a turkey baster.

If you gently make a rolling motion with your thumb over the egg (as if you're rolling a booger to a little ball just before launching it) it will release quite easily as well. The eggs are pretty tough, so they can handle some thumb pressure.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
